Welcome!

ABOUT ME!

Me? I'm a 51 year old High School teacher in the north of England, of Welsh birth and proud of it. With a name like David Owen Davies I couldn't be much else!

Why? Why have I started a Homepage? Because I haven't before and to see what sort of response, (if any!) it might generate.I'd be happy to respond to anyone who cares to write.

What to include? Well I thought I'd include my main interests, which are motorcycling (especially Italian machines), music (of all sorts) and whatever crops up along the way.

Where do I live? Although Welsh born, as I've said, I spent my formative years on the Wirral, studied in Liverpool, moved to and work in South Yorkshire.

Lets move on.....

MOTORCYCLING is one of my two main passions. I have been riding bikes for over 30 years now!

I have not owned a huge number of machines in that time maybe 10 starting in the early days with a few small Hondas. However, my passion for Italian motorcycles and Moto Guzzis' in particular soon grew and I've owned several plus a Ducati 851. For the last few years I have been a BMW  rider but as you'll find later am now back with my spiritual home Moto Guzzi.

Having edited an Italian Owners club magazine for a number of years, I have also had the privilege to ride many other Italian makes and models including Bimota, Gilera, Benelli, Laverda and Moto Morini as well as the odd Suzuki, Kawasaki and Yamaha without of course forgetting Triumph!!!

Check out my friend's Mick and Sue's site as they do the hard part of the 'Long Way Round' without the support and without zimmer frames!!!

WW II - LANCASTER BOMBER.

A great ride out to a superb little museum and choose the right day and you can watch and listen to the Lancaster bomber warm up and taxi - whilst stood right underneath and not half a mile away!! You can also choose, for a fee, to ride in the Lancaster as it taxis up and down the runway - an unmissable experience!!! Get lucky like we did a few years ago and ride over to RAF Coningsby and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and catch the Lancaster taking off or landing!! We did, two Lancs running on the same day - don't see that often!!
